In the world of software development, the bridge between academic education and practical application is essential. At DEJ Technology, the entire team - especially the founders - work to create this link. We accompany students during their Bachelor's and Master's theses and provide them with intensive support on both a professional and personal level.
Jonas, CEO of DEJ Technology, brings extensive experience from his time as a research assistant. He already supervised over 15 theses at university - a commitment that he has continued even after founding the company.

For DEJ, academic mentoring is not a compulsory program, but rather the active promotion of young talent. Although we do not have any traditional trainees, we are actively involved in training future specialists by working with students.
The stories of Atefeh, Bisrat and Philipp show how diverse these paths can be - and how valuable individual support is. Philipp, for example, impressed with his structured approach and submitted his work well before the deadline. Atefeh initially joined via an internship and quickly demonstrated ambition and determination. Her Master's thesis under Jonas' supervision paved the way to a permanent position. Bisrat, on the other hand, preferred to work at night in the quiet atmosphere of the university - his very own path to his goal.
These examples show: There is no one right way - but it helps to have someone at your side who listens, reflects and accompanies you.
Academic support at DEJ goes beyond specialist questions. We support students in mastering challenges, working independently and documenting their solutions in a comprehensible manner.

A common thread from the problem definition to the methodology to the results and reflection is crucial. Developers must not only deliver good solutions, but also be able to pick up stakeholders - be it in the team or towards customers.
Learning resilience and flexibility is also an important part of our support. If an approach doesn't work, it's not a failure - it's an opportunity to learn. Jan H. is a prime example of this: when his first solution proved to be useless, he developed his own, workable approach within a few weeks - a sign of real maturity.
A Master's thesis is rarely written in the order in which it is later read. This initially causes uncertainty for many students. They often start with the introduction, although the content is only really tangible at the end. In practice, a different order has proven successful: The problem and solution are formulated first, followed by the methodology, results and discussion - and the introduction only at the very end. This understanding helps to make the writing process more realistic and efficient.
A vivid image for this is the building of a sandcastle: at the beginning, everything is shapeless. You start with a rough structure, change, discard and add to it - until the final shape is achieved. This is also how a final project develops step by step, through trial and error and fine-tuning.
We therefore encourage our students to draw up their own timetables as early as possible. Even if these plans often change over the course of the project, they promote an understanding of the scope and complexity of the project. Regular meetings - ideally every two weeks - help to keep an eye on progress, identify challenges early on and obtain targeted feedback. Towards the end of the editing period, it is particularly useful to set aside four to eight weeks exclusively for writing so that you can concentrate on your work without interruptions.
Jonas sees mentoring not only as a professional task, but also as an opportunity to accompany young people on part of their journey. In the process, he himself is constantly learning new things: through new technological perspectives, through unconventional ways of thinking and through personal exchange.
A formative role model was his own doctoral supervisor, who supervised over a hundred theses and sensitized Jonas early on to structure and clarity in scientific work.
